English with Walking

English lessons with a view: Walking the Cornish coast.

Our English with Walking course combines morning language lessons with afternoon hikes along Cornwall’s stunning coastline. Walking is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the landscape while practising English in a relaxed and natural setting.

The entire Cornish peninsular is linked by hundreds of miles of maintained coast path, which makes some of the most striking and beautiful vistas accessible to walkers. The South-West coast path offers breathtaking views of dramatic cliffs, golden beaches, and rugged moorland.

Each afternoon, we set out to explore the landscapes made famous by Rosamunde Pilcher, Poldark, and, more recently, Raynor Winn. As experienced guides and hikers, we know the best routes and hidden gems, leading walks at a comfortable pace that allows you to fully take in the surroundings. From St Agnes, one of Cornwall’s most picturesque villages and a UNESCO World Heritage site , we’ll set out on guided walks that take you through some of the most striking scenery in the UK. Along the way, you’ll learn about the region’s rich history, from tin mining to local legends, all while practicing English in a real-world context.

A reasonable level of fitness and good walking shoes are essential, but this is not an endurance challenge. Our goal is to showcase the beauty of Cornwall in the best way possible: On foot.

“Now after a few weeks, when I think back on this trip – I do it with a smile on my face. What an incredibly wonderful experience.”

FAQ’s:

Are there any backup plans in case it rains?

We always suggest bringing a waterproof jacket just in case there’s a bit of rain. However, we carefully plan our afternoon hikes based on the weather, so if it’s not looking great, we’ll find an alternative activity. Often, we’ll head to a cosy café to relax with a cream tea or coffee, ensuring you still get a great experience, rain or shine!

Q: I haven’t done much walking. Is the course still suitable for me?

Yes, our walks and hikes are suitable for all levels, so you don’t need to worry if you haven’t walked much before. The South West Coast Path in Cornwall is stunning, and we recommend bringing comfortable hiking shoes and, if you prefer, hiking poles to make the experience more enjoyable.
