Songlines

“Language is a Landmark”.

In Aboriginal culture vast swathes of territory were navigated by poetry and song alone. Passed from generation to generation, songs and poems ensured no-one lost their way.

Songlines is an exploration of the land, and a discovery of language. We will provide you with writerly techniques that will drive your own creative writing, and encourage you to take risks with words, and begin articulating your journey as you navigate the coast paths surrounding St Agnes.

We’ll begin Songlines at Skool’s classroom in Wheal Kitty. There we’ll teach you writing methods, techniques, approaches before setting out on to the South West Coast Path. You’ll learn to use creative writing techniques, build your confidence, and become a better writer. You’ll record the landmarks that you see, and you’ll transform these landmarks into prose, poetry, or even song.

St Agnes is a UNESCO World Heritage site: here, the wild Atlantic dominates. On our coast path there are ruined mines, polychromatic heather and gorse, wild animals and birds, and the ever-changing landscape of the sea.

Our professional teaching team will help you articulate your experience and guide you safely on the coast path.

Your story is worth recording.
