Writing with Light

‘Photography’ comes from two Greek words ‘Writing’ and ‘Light’. The true art of photography is not just capturing a pretty view, or face, but in the communication of story. In Writing With Light we explore narrative techniques, and ways of telling stories through image, and ultimately how to capture the human experience of the world.

Through experimentation you will learn to see light differently and use it to convey meaning and emotion.

We’ll help you create images that will make you proud, and that you’ll return to again and again. You don’t need advanced equipment, if you have a DSLR that’s great, but a smartphone or even a throwaway camera will do the job. The trick is not to snap away, but to use light and your environment to convey a story.

Guided by our team of skilled educators, you will find your visual voice and create images that make you proud.

Skool Cornwall sits atop a cliff on the stunning north coast of the county, in the pretty village of St Agnes. Buffeted by the winds of the Atlantic, our school nestles on the site of an old tin mine, Wheal Kitty. Wilderness Photographic is the brainchild of Christopher Lucas, photographer, author educator and film maker.
